Abstract
UCI #20. I once visited the set of TURN, a TV show on AMC, and it made me realize how camera placement, angles, and lenses make props and stages more realistic. When I saw the starting ramp with my own eyes, I thought “god, what shoddy setup!” But I turned to look at it on the big screen a couple blocks down the road, I was impressed. The camera cut close to the edges of the signage so you couldn’t see how small it actually is, and they shot from a low angle to capture the head room above the people inside. Now that’s what I call movie magic.
