Abstract

Community-engaged research enhances research by engaging academic and community partners, benefiting both the researcher and community members. By harnessing community expertise, researchers develop "on the ground knowledge" which generates new ideas beyond that of traditional research models. In turn, the knowledge base, skill sets, and resource availability for both the researcher and community members expand, effecting positive change at multiple levels. This video highlights the benefits of community-engaged research to community and academic partners.
