Abstract
UCI #17. I reached a spot on Broad Street near the starting line and was ready to take some great action shots when a guy carrying a beautiful flag walked by. He was speaking to his family, saying “this is it, this is the spot…” when the countdown began. He looked up at the giant screen across the street and saw the cyclist at the starting line. He screamed and started waving his flag, shouting a name. The cyclist descended the ramp and was heading in our direction. The flag billowed as the cyclist passed by, and the man shouted “Eritreaaaaaa!” Soon after the cyclist passed, the support van drove by, and the team inside smiled and nodded at the man.
