Abstract
American artist Henry Cheever Pratt (1803-1880) was a member of the 1851 Mexican Boundary Commission, an expedition charged with surveying and recording the boundary between the United States and Mexico. This thesis examines the art work Pratt produced for the Commission, and addresses the issue of the omission of most of his work from the Personal Narrative of Explorations and Incidents in Texas, New Mexico, Sonora, and Chihuahua 1850-1853, the official published record of the trip.
