"Through the Decades: AAPI Life at VCU" was a special exhibit featuring the history of Asian and Pacific Islander students, faculty, and student organizations at VCU, presented on April 3, 2024 at the VCU Libraries. The event was a collaboration between Asian American & Pacific Islander Affinity (AAPIA), You First at VCU, OMSA, and VCU Libraries in celebration of AAPI Heritage Month. The goal was to provide a space for community gathering while also educating the general public of VCU's diverse history, especially in celebration of the heritage month. A research committee was formed from AAPIA's students, and in partnership with VCU Libraries they were able to conduct extensive research with Special Collections & Archives over the course of three months. The research committee consised of Aurianna Nacua, Aerin Fortes, Cierra T’eo, Maryam Rabiutheen,
Sithmi Rajaguru, and Natalie Auandee. You First and OMSA, with their own general initiatives in supporting VCU's AAPI student population, were able to contribute overarching staff supervision of the project, logistical support, and funding.
