Abstract
The purpose of this survey is to present Islamic design found on the Monroe Park Campus at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va. There are patterns and architectural elements at VCU that match designs from the Islamic world. When possible this study presents matches in the form of nineteenth-century pattern books and/or existing Islamic monuments. The tour is divided into three separate sections: the West Franklin St. historic buildings, the Landmark Theatre, and off-campus buildings.
