Abstract
Andrea Pippins is a Sweden-based illustrator with roots in graphic design. She grew up in DC, with a Brazilian mother and American father. Both her BFA and MFA came from the Tyler School of Arts at Temple University. She has worked at Hallmark Cards, Nick at Nite, and done many freelance projects. She has written three books: I Love My Hair, Becoming Me, and We Inspire Me. She also illustrated Young, Gifted, and Black, written by Jamia Wilson. In her work, she encourages people to create and participate in their own communities. It uplifts blackness as a thing to be proud of, as well as encourages people of all backgrounds to embrace their culture and their creativity.
