Abstract
With a Kiss is a novel excerpt and creative nonfiction essays. The novel in progress follows Brooke, a woman whose boyfriend is competing in a reality television show while she stays at home and tries to garner audience support for him to win the prize money and boost his career as an influencer. The novel considers the tiered forms of audience in reality television, online discourse, and interpersonal relationships. The essays, “Kokoschka’s Doll” and “Funeral,” consider vulnerability and control in the context of love and grief.
