Inova Fairfax Hospital has been a teaching hospital for more than 45 years. Currently, there are 150 residents and approximately 110 medical students rotating through many of the hospital departments each month.
Building on this strong educational foundation, in 2005, the hospital expanded its educational offerings through a strategic partnership with Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, developing the first regional branch medical campus in Northern Virginia.
Twenty-four third-year and 24 fourth-year medical students attend the branch school located on Inova Fairfax Hospital’s campus. The combination of a diverse patient population, state-of-the-art hospital facilities and a committed teaching faculty has created an exceptional learning environment for medical students.
