This house appears to date from the period immediately following the Civil War due to its window sash and trim. The interesting cast iron porch and fence and simple Italianate cornice are notable.

The Three Hundred Block of Marshall Street contains a large number of pre-Civil War houses, some of which have been altered in unusual ways.
