Physical Details

Hemacytometer with Levy counting chamber in leather box. The box has rounded corners and a pull tab locking mechanism. Exterior top is imprinted "American Standard Haemacytometer with Levy Counting Chamber" at the center, and "Arthur H. Thomas Company Philadelphia USA" at the lower left. Inside, against green velvet, there is a copper-colored seal with scalloped edges, which bears the manufacturer info. The name of the donor, "J. Shapiro," and the abbreviation "M. C. V." are written in ink on the velvet under the lid. Inside, there are four graduated pipettes with vacuum bulbs of different sizes, and two brown rubber tubes that end with glass mouthpieces. The counting chamber is composed of both clear and frosted glass.
