Card Text (transcribed from postcard)

Virginia State Capitol -- The central building of the connected group dates from 1798, and is designed after an ancient Roman Temple. The two wings were added in 1906. Here Aaron Burr was tried for treason in 1807, and here sat Congress of the Confederate States. In the rotunda stands Houdon's incomparable statue of Washington.
