Description
Letter from Percy Griffin to James W. Allison stating he will visit Richmond soon and thanking him for his support in the "controversy."
Transcription
Dear Mr. Allison: I returned by “Auravia” and before long I shall run down to see you in Richmond, if you will let me know when it will be convenient to see me— after yr. Return from the Springs. Several things have happened— during my absence, on the other side— and much to my surprise— I sincerely regret that you should have been brought into a controversy which was unnecessary, and— I think— entirely out of place— to say nothing of justice in the case— However I shall not now, go into this question with you— for you have had quite enough of it, I imagine— I take no exception to what you, have done— but must thank you for not allowing an advantage to be taken of me in my absence—Trusting that Mrs. Allison and the boy are very well— believe me always, Faithfully yours, Percy Griffin 15— Sept. ’94. James W. Allison Esqr. Richmond. [ALS, Percy Griffin to James W. Allison, September 15, 1894, no letterhead. Envelope docketed: — Percy Griffin — Sep 15. 1894 — Announcing his arrival in N.Y. and asking when it will be convenient to receive him. Thanking me for not allowing his absence to be taken advantage of.] [edited by VR]
