Abstract
We are often told of the importance of extramural grant funding to support our research, scholarship, and creative activity, and ultimately for promotion and tenure. What may be less clear when and how funding opportunities fit into our long-term career trajectories. Given the amount of energy it takes to prepare a competitive grant application, will our scholarly goals be met by investing our time in these efforts? Is there a more strategic way to plan for grant applications, rather than frantically trying to meet deadlines for every interesting funding opportunity that is announced? This hands-on session is designed for participants to create a strategic plan for pursuing grants.
