Abstract
Academic units across the university are placing increasing emphasis on securing extramural funding -- even in disciplines that have not traditionally required such activities to thrive. This poses unique challenges for many faculty, like some in the Humanities, Social Science, Business, and Interdisciplinary fields: Why do I need extramural funding to support my research? How does the institution create an inclusive culture for grantsmanship, and how do I foster one for myself? How have other scholars like me positioned themselves to be competitive grant getters? Where should I start, and what should I look for? This session is targeted to those who have, until now, not seen the full value of grant funding for their lines of inquiry.
