Abstract

Financial aid is one of the most significant factors influencing students' enrollment decisions, making costs a major barrier to college attendance for many college students. As of May 2023, over 1.7 million students have completed the FAFSA, indicating a recovery in application numbers after a slow start. The FAFSA still poses challenges for higher educational institutions, student matriculation, and attrition. To address these challenges and ensure the revised FASA fulfills its promise of advancing educational equity, strategic interventions at the institutional, state, and federal government levels are essential.
