Description
Letter from Marion Howard requesting a substitute for his position as Demonstrator the upcoming session.
Transcription
The Faculty of the Medical College of Va Gentlemen Your Demonstrator respectfully asks that he may be permitted to fill his office by a substitute during the coming session. As the class will probably be a small one, his duties could easily be filled by substitution, and as your Demons- trator is an Ass[istan]t Surgeon in the provisional Army and may be ordered from Richmond, he hopes it may be agreeable to the Faculty to grant his request Should the Faculty deem a substitute inexpedient, he asks to be permitted to change his hours for demon- strating, from 5 to 7 o'clock p.m. Marion Howard Oct: 04 1861
