Washington DC Dec[e]m[ber] 5 1860 Dean of Medical faculty Richmond va Dear Sir I enterd the Medical School in Washington not knowing, that any of the Professors belonged to the Republican party. Since that time, I have learned, that three of the faculty are strong advocates of Abolitionism, and one of the three has connected his name with a political association commonly known, as the Wide Awakes," A Company of Republicans Composed of Robber's Pickpockets and houseburners. Several of the Southern Students being determined to leave the Institution, are anexious to know if the Faculty of the Richmond Medical College would permitt them to enter their School upon the Tickets already purchased from the Washington faculty, will you be so kind as to let us know soon. Yours Respectfully R.T. Scott Ala[bama] James M Parks Ala[bama] [Addressed:] Dean of Medical faculty Richmond, va
