Richmond 29th Jan[uar]y 1859 Doctor [Charles Bell] Gibson Dear Sir We received a letter this morning from Dr. John B Harding of Nelson Co[unty] by the bearer of this Henry, who it appears has been sick for some time. Dr. H[arding] says "I desire you to make the following proposition to the Medical Infirmary of your City. They can treat Henry's case & if they cure him, they can have for their fee one third of what he will bring, [crossout illegible], I am to be at no expense in the event, either of his being returned, or of his death. My regards to Dr. Gibson & say to him there is no improvement in regard to my eye sight, still blind, We suppose Dr. Harding is known to you. He is reliable & responsible. Please let us know decision, after examining the boy. Very Respectfully Peter Martin Esq. 17th street next door to Haxall & Co. office
