The VCUarts Dept. of Sculpture + Extended Media offers graduate and undergraduate programs. The BFA program in Sculpture + Extended Media offers a fluid and dynamic educational experience that reflects the vital landscape of art making today. Our program is initiated with a progressive cycle of classes, originating with manual and intellectual skill development, and arcing toward the ultimate goal of developing a complex, nuanced and individual approach to art upon graduation. A day-to-day, experimental, and process-orientated studio ethic is encouraged.
Led by an active and accomplished group of working artists, the MFA program in Sculpture + Extended Media promotes a fluid, liberated, experimental and progressive exploration of the transformative role of art. We rigorously engage the burgeoning philosophical, critical and technical conditions that shape art making today. Our mission is to continually develop a rigorous yet supportive environment that leads to the expansive growth of individual artists.
