Postcard Text

City Hall. Facing Tenth and Broad Streets, this imposing edifice, constructed of Virginia granite at a cost of over $1,500,000, was completed in 1894. The various municipal courts as well as the offices of the chief of city departements [sic] are housed here. Rising to a height of 180 feet from the ground to the balcony at the top of the clock tower, it has been the means for one unfortunate weary of life to hurl himself to his death some years ago.
