Description

A photographic print of actress Dorothy Lamour speaking at the State Capitol. Three microphones stand in front of her, one is labeled "WRVA". Approximately a dozen individuals watch her speak, including approximately eight young individuals in Girl Scout uniforms sitting on the steps below her. Their uniforms indicate members of troops #47 and #60. All individuals present appear to be white. According to a May 14, 1942 article in the Richmond Times-DIspatch, Lamour and other stars were in Richmond promoting the sale of war bonds and stamps. "Dorothy Lamour Speak From South Portico of State Capitol." cut from newspaper and glued on back. "pg' 3 col alottie 77. May 14 1942." written on back. "Property of COMMONWEALTH GIRL SCOUT COUNCIL OF VIRGINIA, INCORPORATED 1148 HANOVER GREEN DRIVE MECHANICSVILLE, VIRGINIA 23111" stamped on back. "This Photograph is property of the Richmond Times - Dispatch THE RICHMOND NEWS LEADER And Must Not Be Used Without Permission" stamped on back.
