Description
A photographic print of the front steps and front door of a home numbered 5522. In the doorway is an adult individual, and two Girl Scouts in uniform stand on either side of them. The Girl Scout on the left, Gayle Lester, hand cookie boxes to the adult individual. At the bottom of the stairs are two sleds with boxes of Girl Scout cookies. All individuals are presumed to be white. The print of the photograph is damaged, with streaks from chemical residue across its entirety. "L. to R. Gayle Lester - Mrs. Ernest Duke, Rosemary Wells" handwritten on back.
Included with this photograph is a letter addressed to Miss Lackey from The Richmond News Leader, Richmond, Virginia on letterhead dated February 18, 1958: "Dear Miss Lackey, I am returning to you the photographs which we received in this morning's mail. I am sorry I will be unable to use them. Unfortunately, snap shots will not reproduce in our papers. Thank you for sending them to me, however. Sincerely, Mary Stuart Brenneman"
