Description
Letter from C. H. Snead to L. S. Joynes concerning payment for a lithograph.
Transcription
Marion Ala Jan. 14th 1861 Pres[ident] of Virginia Med[ical] College: Dear Sir: Your note containing the amount due for the Lithograph is at hand. The money seems to be of no value here, but I will endeavor to use it in some way. I will as soon as possible remit it to Cincinnatus. My publication will not be issued until the political agitations shall terminate in some way. I am unwilling to increase my liabil ities at present. If, however there should be a Southern Confederacy, perhaps, the work may pay expenses. We are daily expecting civil war in our midst and no enterprise can flourish in the South, so long, as much a calamity threatens us. Yours Very Respectfully C.H. Snead
