Oct[ober]. 3rd 1864 Petersburg Va Prof[essor] L[evin] S[mith] Joynes Sir, Endorsed I send my application to the Surg[eon] Gen[era]l to be transfered to Richmond, on which you will find the signatures of the Surgeon of the Reg[imen]t that of the S[enio]r Surgeon of the Brigade and that of the Commander of my Reg[imen]t. Enclosed also you will find a letter from Dr. J R Parker. The papers to which I refer explain my object in endeavoring to obtain a transfer - For the purpose of attending a course of Mdical Lectures - I shall be under many obligations to you for your assitance. Please present my case to the Surg[eon] Gen[era]l and let me know the result immediately. Very Respectfully Your Obedt Servant W.W. Entzminger Hosp[ital] Steward 12th S.C.
