Welcome to The Journal of Prison Education Research. We are announcing with a mix of regret and profound gratitude that Journal of Prison Education Research will close and be archived by March, 2026. As of now, JoPER will no longer be accepting submissions.
This decision was made by the editorial board after careful deliberation. Like many volunteer-led initiatives in open access publishing, the growing demands and pressures within modern academia have made it increasingly challenging for our dedicated editors and reviewers to continue contributing the substantial time and service required to maintain the high standards of an academic journal.
Although the Journal is hereby closed, the archive and website remain active, and the infrastructure remains in place, should a new team emerge to take up the mantle of managing, editing, and publishing. For inquiries, please contact: jper.connect@gmail.com
Formerly known as The Journal of Prison Education and Reentry, the journal's archives published under that title (from 2014 to 2023) can be found at https://scholarscompass.vcu.edu/jper/
